In 1984, Newspeak aims to replace ordinary language by 2050, with the aim of discouraging language as a vehicle for thinking and making it easier for people to function as slaves to the system. After all, thinking that deviates from what fact-checkers have determined to be correct, is regarded as conspiracy, and in 1984 as "thought crime" (the Party prescribes what is correct, which may vary from day to day). Although I am still captivated by the accuracy of Orwell 's thoughts, he has a “top-down” vision: how to think, act and live is imposed from a master plan from above. It is now clear that tthe world is not ruled by master plans. Systems emerge bottom up, because technology development has taken on a life of its own, "sponsored" by an economic system (infinite growth of finite resources) that arises directly from one of the fundamental human-psychological drivers: instant gratification.
